Taking care of goat heads is definitely a maintenance issue.  This is because the seeds (in the thorny pods) can lie dormant for at least 7-10 years.  I have heard even up to 25 years!

When the conditions are right, they could sprout up any time, any year.  Many times people have told me they have owned property for many years, but have ‘never had goat heads until this year’.
