Renee & Shawn
Hey there, we are Shawn and Renee Walstad, and we love living in Idaho, and out in the country – except for those painful, downright evil goatheads. If you have ever stepped on one in the middle of the night, or really any time of day, then you know what I’m talking about. We loved being outside, but even our dogs would not go out with us because of all the goatheads. We did not want to simply do the best we could, we wanted a solution to the problem of goatheads.
We were determined to find a solution that worked for us, but could also be duplicated for neighbors so together we could rid the world of evil, one goat head at a time. We also wanted to do what we could to avoid over-using harsh chemicals, and be as ‘green’ as possible. After all, our purpose was to be out enjoying nature, not just controlling the weeds.
After being married for 31 years we really needed to draw on our experience in problem solving together to come up with the best solution, and one that we could pass on to others. With this monumental task in front of us we rolled up our sleeves (literally, it was kind of hot), and decided to tackle this challenge by using everything we learned in the past few decades of problem solving together - Renee had some great ideas, I said “Yes dear,” and the Goathead Roller was born. Okay, maybe there was a little more to it than that, but we are excited that we were able to come up with a viable solution for a problem that plagues so many people.
Since then, we have worked with many goathead-despising enthusiasts and formed a community, or you might say even an army of people forged together by a common bond to rid our lands of this persistent and painful foe.
